Storytimes
The library offers storytimes for children age 1 through first grade. Some storytimes are planned for parent and child, so that caregivers can participate with the child, model behaviors, and learn techniques to use with their child at home. Other storytimes are meant for children to participate on their own, as a first opportunity to be in an active group with other children. The goal of our storytimes is to enhance pre-literacy and early literacy skills while having a lot of fun. Storytimes meet weekly during each 7-week session.
We also offer a Littlest Storytime for infants up to age one with a caregiver. This program models earliest adult-child interaction, stimulates babies through movement and rhythm, and is an opportunity for parent and babies to share time together in a library setting.
Family Programs and Special Performances
The library is a lively place for family activities, and we offer an exciting variety of performers throughout the year. From musicians to magicians, storytellers to scientists, families are sure to find a program to enjoy. Family programs and special performances are listed on our website and in the Fine Print newsletter.
School-age Programs
Students in grades 2 – 8 are invited to join in interactive learning experiences each month at the Home School Club or After School Specials. Topics are varied and often feature professionals in the field of presentation. Fans of LEGOs, Chess, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh! will also find monthly programs to enjoy.
Book Discussions
The Kids’ Library offers book discussions for grades 2 and 3 throughout the year. Periodically during the school year and weekly throughout the summer book discussions are held for grades 2 through 5. Children can also join us for book character parties celebrated throughout the year.

Summer Reading Club and Winter Reading Club
Every summer and every winter, kids ages 1 and up are encouraged to join our reading clubs. These clubs encourage continued reading with prize incentives. Specially designed reading logs, great prizes, and support from local businesses combine to make each reading club an exciting event for readers of all ages.
